Castles, Country Houses and Gardens
Locally Norham Castle, Paxton House and Manderston House are all a short drive away.
Alnwick Gardens is just forty minutes drive away. Floors Castle near Kelso provides guided tours, a lovely walled garden and grounds where you can picnic. Nearer still just outside Coldstream you can take a gentle stroll through the woods and gardens at the Hirsel Country Parkbefore visiting its craft centre.
Cycling
For cycling Lazyday Cottages is situated very near to the Tweed Cycle Way. For the more adventurous Glentress Forest by Peebles offers some of the best mountain biking trails in Scotland.
Edinburgh
The capital city Edinburgh famed for its fringe festival history and culture is only 45 minutes by train from Berwick-upon-Tweed and one hour's direct drive away.
Fishing
Situated close to the River Tweed and five minutes drive from Tweedhill and LadyKirk beats. The rivers Whiteadder and Till also being near by. Ideal for all your Salmon and Trout fishing. Whinney Loch at Coldingham and Coldingham Loch offer excellent Trout fishing.
Golfing
Enjoy the numerous golf courses close by. Eyemouth, Hirsel at Coldstream, Duns, Kelso, Roxbrough, are all only twenty minutes drive away.
Horse riding
Beachcomber Riding Stables offer exhilarating rides along the North Northumberland coastline by Holy Island.

The North Northumbrian and Berwickshire coast line boasts some beautiful walks and the beaches are uncrowded. Walk or drive to Holy Island and visit the Abbey. Safari drives by Cliff Top Discovery can be arranged in advance.
