Voytek the Soldier Bear
The famous Polish Army bear Voytek was stationed here at Winfield, the site of Lazyday Cottages. Voytek was one of a kind, and there are still members of the local community that can remember his presence here between 1946 and 1947 before his retirement at Edinburgh Zoo.
