Harvesting the Willow
Out harvesting the willow, it’s so beautiful with the silvery, furry buds bursting out.
Willow is so versatile used by florists to give their bouquets a spring feel. Whilst out in the cottage industries groups weave it into baskets, make living fences and structural arbours and arches.
In recent years it has been farmed for its quick growth for fuel supplies.
All in all a brilliant natural material, it grows so quickly you can almost see it!
Seeing any buds coming through now brings the anticipation of spring and warmer brighter days.
